KAXL 30 Years Strong!

KAXL/Bakersfield (Life FM)  celebrates its 30th anniversary this week.

Morning Show host Jon Engen, “To celebrate 30 years of broadcasting as a standalone, listener supported station is becoming more and more a rare thing. But it’s so much more than that! That’s 30 years with the same owners, 30 years with the same manager, 25 years with Dan Schaffer on air. 17 years with Matt Pelishek in the afternoons and now PD. I’ve been a part of the station, in one way or another, for 24 years. Longevity, stability, along with flexibility to change when needed has given us a wonderful foundation for the next 30 years!”

KAXL is a very promotionally minded local Christian station. Here’s some events the station has featured over the years:

Matt Pelishek has been with KAXL since 2007 and serves as Program Director, “I wish I had a more spiritual word, but to see God’s faithfulness over all these years is wild! Life FM started as nothing but a network satellite feed. No big grants, no parent ministry with funding, no real relationship with the rest of the industry. What we did have was consistency, faithfulness, and willingness to change. Over time, those things led to a growing staff, growing audience, and growing ministry. It led to countless stories of lives changed. Stepping back to look at the last 3 decades, God’s hand on it is undeniable. I’m so thankful for our small staff that works so hard, and for a community that has been so supportive for all these years.”  (Matt Pelishek interview HERE

KAXL staff will celebrate with listeners this Saturday at a Free 30 year anniversary party at Bakersfield Christian High School. LIVE music includes five local church bands from Valley Baptist, Bridge Bible Church, Canyon Hills, Christ’s Church of the Valley (afternoon co-host Aaron Perlman’s band) and Bakersfield Christian High School. Then artist Jordan St Cyr performs as the headliner. There will also be bounce houses, Inflatable obstacle courses, a petting zoo, raffle prizes, and food trucks.
