WGTS/Wash DC just finished collecting and distributing over 40,000 diapers and wipes from their campaign “Operation Fill the Diaper Bag,” one of Hands and Heart initiatives for 2021. From early April through Mother’s Day in May this year, the WGTS team broadcasted live from Chick-fil-A locations across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. At each stop, listeners donated diapers and wipes. They also picked up station bumper stickers and other WGTS items such as pencils, pens, notepads, and sunscreen. The diapers and wipes were sent out to the Rockville Women’s Center in Maryland, Salvation Army Harbor Light Center in Washington, D.C., and Assist Pregnancy Center in Virginia.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than to reach out to moms who are struggling this year. With the cost of everything going up, this was just a small way the WGTS family could take care of the little ones in our community,” said promotions director and morning show host Jerry Woods.
