Greg Goodman at Daywind reports the retirement of the name of The Dixie Melody Boys as announced by Ed O’Neal. O’Neal has been a part of southern gospel music for more than 60 years and was inducted into The Southern Gospel Music Hall Of Fame in 2004.

O’neal says, “The past few years have been very challenging.  I appreciate the promoters and pastors who have supported The Dixie Melody Boys, especially over the last few years, and I commend the guys who have worked really hard to keep the legacy of The Dixie Melody Boys alive. They have represented Ed O’Neal and The Dixie Melody Boys with class, and I appreciate that, but after a very deliberative, thoughtful and prayerful period of time, I feel the best thing to honor the heritage of the Quartet is to retire the name.”

WGTS/Wash DC packed out back to back TobyMac shows. Over 13,000 attended the TobyMac “Hits Deep Tour” shows again as in 2019, WGTS became the first station to welcome consecutive shows from TobyMac. Both shows were sold-out in advance.

“We don’t have a lot of artists from D.C., so when TobyMac comes home, we want to go big,” said WGTS morning show host and marketing director Jerry Woods. “We want people to be blessed, and TobyMac and his team share Jesus in the most engaging, not to mention the most energetic, way possible.”
