Family Life Enters Syracuse Market
Family Life/Bath, NY is now broadcasting in Syracuse on WCIS-FM 105.1, formerly The WOLF.
As of Monday, April 4, the 50,000 watt station began transmitting north to south, from Fulton to Cortland, and east to west, from Oneida to Auburn, bringing Family Life to 750,000 new potential listeners in Madison, Cortland and Onondaga Counties, as well as in parts of Cayuga, Oneida, Oswego, and Chenango Counties.
In addition to WCIS-FM, Family Life purchased 98.3FM, a translator station that covers a concentrated area in downtown Syracuse. Family Life can be heard on both stations, 98.3FM and 105.1FM, as of today.
The stations came as part of a recent deal after Family Life acquired WSEN-FM, the former golden oldies station out of Baldwinsville, from Leatherstocking Media Group. After the purchase, Family Life entered an agreement with FoxFur Communications to exchange the station for 98.3FM and WCIS in Syracuse, and one other station, WCIO-FM 96.7, covering Oswego County. In addition, Family Life purchased the former Mix 106 in Oneida from Leatherstocking Media Group. All four signals combined add 1 million more potential listeners to Family Life’s audience.
“We are very excited about serving Syracuse,” says Rick Snavely, President and Network Manager of Family Life. “Over the past several years, we’ve had numerous requests to bring Family Life to the Syracuse and Central New York areas. We continually knocked, but the door didn’t open, until now. We are so grateful because people are growing more and more desperate for hope in this world. We believe Jesus Christ is that hope, and spreading and celebrating the Gospel with these communities is a service we thankfully and joyfully provide.”
Snavely also noted that Family Life will seek to improve the coverage area of each of these signals in the coming year.
Family Life provides listener-supported Christian radio to regions of New York and Pennsylvania, now reaching a potential listenership of nearly five million. The radio network airs a mix of programming including contemporary Christian music, Biblical teaching, daily news, and radio drama for kids and families.
