WNZR Knox County Food for the Hungry Drive

WNZR/Mount Vernon, Ohio (90.9 The Lifeline) WNZR Radio in Mount Vernon, Ohio as well as many individuals, businesses and organizations rallied together to fight hunger in their community for the 37th  Annual Knox County Food for the Hungry Drive. All money and food collected stays in the county to support neighbors in need. About 84% of the donations for the drive go to Interchurch Social Services and the Salvation Army to support their food pantries and emergency services. 19 other food assistance initiatives received mini-grants totaling $30,500. The current total is $250,318.12 and 25.5 pickup trucks of food!

WNZR did live updates from the event and also provided production equipment and staff for a live video stream at MVNU.TV.  Station Manager Marcy Rinehart co-hosted the video/radio simulcast with local station WMVO, while Director of Broadcasting Joe Rinehart directed the multi-camera webcast. Overall, 26 WNZR staff and students were involved in the broadcast.
