WGTS “Operation Fill the Diaper Bag”

WGTS/Wash DC launched “Operation Fill the Diaper Bag.” For a year, the station has been collecting food to help families in need in the greater Washington, D.C., area.  As Mother’s Day approached, the station teamed up with local pregnancy centers to help moms whose children needed diapers.

“We have watched over the past year as moms have stepped up and taken on roles that they never dreamed they would take. So for this Mother’s Day, it felt essential to honor that by helping mothers in need,” said afternoon show host Stacey Stone, who came up with the idea for the project.

In just eight hours, WGTS listeners gave close to 6,000 diapers, despite having to shut down two hours early due to a rainstorm during the second collection stop. “Despite the rain, so many showed up with diapers to make sure that we were able to help these families,” said community engagement director Jitesh Ram.
