WDJC Morning Host Recognized
WDJC/Birmingham morning co-host Roxanne Richardson has been named the 2021 Humanitarian Award Winner. She was chosen for her excellence in the market and her service to Birmingham through Special Ops which we know is near and dear to her heart.
Roxanne has been impacting lives in the streets of Birmingham for almost a decade now. Leading by example and showing love and compassion to homeless and those with drug addiction, she has championed to help woman get out of sex traffic. She’s been dominating the radio in Birmingham for over 30 years and understand the needs of the city but her heart breaks at even the thought of someone living on the streets and in danger.
Each Monday for 9 years now, she leads a team to hand out clothes, protein packs and even pray in the roughest streets of the city to see change happen.
Even with Covid restrictions, she’s safely led with mask and signs to let people know that you can get help when needed.
She’s also co-founded the WellHouse to help women have a place to go to get off the streets and out of traffic.
Her impact and love is felt across the city and it’s set the bar for other like organizations.
With a heart of gold and compassion that’s contagious, Roxanne is the humanitarian we all strive to be.
