KNWC Partners with Call to Freedom

KNWC/Sioux Falls (Life 96.5) invited their listeners to create a freedom bag for woman being rescued from human trafficking through the organization Call to Freedom. Call to Freedom is a non-profit organization which provides supportive services for victims and survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in Sioux Falls and the surrounding areas. Often times, after a woman is rescued, she leaves with only the clothing on her back. Leaving everything behind, including her identity.  The freedom bags help meet immediate needs by providing helpful items like a change of clothes, undergarments, a hairbrush, toothpaste, a toothbrush, shampoo, hair products, lotion, and lip balm. Many bags also include a wallet and store gift card to purchase additional needed items.

Call to Freedom staff said, “Thank you to all of the Life 96.5 listeners. The donations far surpassed anything we could have imagined. So far we have received over 300 bags! We will be able to share these bags with women in need of emergency care, who are being trafficked or at risk of being trafficked to help get them out of a difficult situation. These bags will represent the love from our community to each and every person who receives one. What an amazing way to honor those who are struggling in life.”
