KCMS Announces New Morning Show

KCMS/Seattle (SPIRIT 105.3) is moving afternoon co-hosts Erica Parkerson and Steve Sunshine to morning drive, beginning Wednesday, September 8. Current Morning Show host Sam Kelly will kick off a new afternoon show for SPIRIT 105.3 from 2:00 – 6:00 pm.

In a joint statement, Erica and Steve commented: “We are so excited! Our goal is to kick off your day with encouragement and hope through God’s love, as well as non-negotiable laughter! We are also committed to talking about what’s on your mind and heart and what’s happening right now in Seattle. You’re invited to be part of the show – from your first sip of coffee, we want to be there for you and your family. Let’s go!” 

Mornings at KCMS is not new to either Parkerson or Sunshine.

Erica originally joined KCMS in 2018 to co-host mornings with Scott Carty. Prior to joining KCMS Erica was with His Radio/Greenville, WRCM/Charlotte as well as mornings at SPIRIT-FM in Lynchburg, VA. 

Sunshine recently joined KCMS after a ten year run with KFMK/Austin (Spirit 105.9) as PD/mornings. Steve & Amy (Byrd) were simulcast from Austin on KCMS prior to the time Parkerson joined the station in 2018. Sunshine’s long history in Christian Radio also includes WMHK/Columbia, KKFS/Sacramento (103.9 The Fish).

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in the spring of 2020, SPIRIT 105.3 moved its morning show to afternoons to better serve listeners with their adjusted schedules. As much of the greater Puget Sound region prepares for a return to school campuses and more employees revert to working onsite this fall, “Mornings with Erica & Steve” will welcome listeners each weekday from 5:00 – 10:00 am. One of the first shows in the new time slot will be a special remembrance of the 20th Anniversary of September 11, 2001.
