Salem has added the “Main Street Matters” podcast, produced by Job Creators Network, to the Salem Podcast Network. Main Street Matters is America’s small business megaphone and will feature inspirational real-life stories of the struggles and successes of small business owners. By highlighting their grit, determination, and passion Main Street Matters will prove the American Dream is still alive. The podcast will be co-hosted by Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of Job Creators Network, and Elaine Parker, President of Job Creators Network Foundation. Two episodes of the podcast will be released each week.

“We are so happy to add a podcast to our lineup that talks to small business owners and entrepreneurs — the lifeblood of the economy,” said Salem Senior Vice President of Spoken Word, Phil Boyce. “Alfredo and Elaine are two of the best voices out there in this space and will be able to help so many people grow and succeed.”

According to M Street Corp/Inside Radio’s latest Format Counts report for May, CCM and religion-based formats are the only two formats experiencing notable growth in terms of station count. The religion format, which includes teaching and variety, is currently ranked third overall among total stations in the U.S. It has gained 14 new stations compared to last year and an additional 12 since January 2023. On the other hand, CCM holds the fourth position, and has gone above and beyond, with an impressive increase of 26 stations from May 2022 to May 2023. This marks a significant growth rate of 1.9% in station count, including 11 new stations that joined since the beginning of this year.

On Friday evening (6/9/23) Salem Radio Network’s nationally syndicated talk host Mike Gallagher will headline a special listener event in Greer, South Carolina…which will feature a performance by the Rushingbrook Children’s Choir from Greenville, SC. The choir recently generated international publicity when its performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” in the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol was abruptly cut off by members of the Capitol Police…despite the children having been invited to perform by U.S. Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA.)

Gallagher, who will appear with SRN colleague Dr. Sebastian Gorka and Joey Hudson, morning host on 94.5 The ANSWER in Greenville—says “We had already scheduled an evening of lively discussion about politics and current social issues when a video of these wonderful kids being cut off went viral,”…adding “When we meet at the historic Greer Depot on Friday night, I can assure you the Rushingbrook Children’s Choir will perform our National Anthem unencumbered and will only be interrupted by thunderous applause from our listeners.”

At the K-LOVE Fan Awards, Fair Trade artists MercyMe shared advice for up-and-coming Christian artists.

“We tell young artists all the time to never treat where God has you as a stepping stone. That this may be the very reason and moment He called you up, and more opportunities will be given to you,” MercyMe’s lead vocalist Bart Millard said.
