UPDATE: WPHN/Gaylord (The Promise FM) is back on the air at 90.5FM broadcasting at a fraction of the power of 100kw, because of the capabilities of the temporary equipment. Last week, a fire destroyed the transmitter facility in Atlanta, that housed the WPHN 90.5FM transmitter, destroying all of the equipment completely, and taking The Promise FM off the air. This damage will take months to restore, as the entirety of the facility will have to be rebuilt.

Northern Christian Radio President/GM Pat Scott told HisAir, “But God provided Northern Christian Radio with a temporary tower and transmitter site, and our engineer was able to get The Promise FM back on the air.”

After 20 plus years as Brand Manger at Salem Media stations KFSH/Los Angeles (95.9 the Fish) and KKLA/Los Angeles (and co-founder of the first Fish station) Chuck Tyler has opened his consultancy.

Chuck tells HisAir, “In addition to my background formerly as PD/On-Air in mainstream A/C and Talk stations in majors (KFI, B-94 PGH, Z in Philly etc) around the country, when I came to Christ shortly prior to 2020, it was a natural move for me to slide into Christian radio. Initially as a consultant with Salem for 2 years, then I was hired as PD of their cluster in Portland. The timing was fortuitous (God’s timing I believe), as Salem was acquiring some stations, including 95.9 (MIX at the time) in Orange County SoCal.  Myself and consultant Dan Vallie (with great support from GM Dave Armstrong at the time) designed and implemented the very first Fish station in August 2000. Neither of us had done much Christian radio….so we did what came naturally….made it an A/C textured station that happened to play Contemporary.”

If you sense a need, you can reach Chuck at 661-433-7600 (chucktyler2020@yahoo.com) or go to BENMEDIA.info

Chuck adds, I am very flexible. Virtual visits, market visits, on-going retainer, or something else we dream up. I am all ears.  I look forward to chatting.”
