WCLQ/Wausau, WI (89Q) announces the hiring of Erick Martinez to the team as Morning Show Co-Host and Assistant Program Director beginning October 19.
Erick comes to 89Q from Hope Media Group in Houston and brings a unique combination of Christian radio, digital media, entertainment, and ministry experience. Most recently, he was afternoon host at Vida Unida, where he was also Digital Media Producer since Nov 2021. His background also includes work with Houston Christian radio, the Houston Rockets Spanish-language entertainment team, and appearances in upcoming seasons of The Chosen.
In May WCLQ Operations Manager Ryan Bair told HisAir longtime morning host Mike Lanser would be coming off the air..
Ryan says, “Just transitioning him from morning show (which he’s done…like forever…) and into a coaching role. It’s part of his job responsibilities, but due to being on-air, he hasn’t had much time to put into our staff. Our board say we could pursue another co-anchor for the morning show, then Mike can be free for other duties.”
Erick and his wife, Kayla, along with their family, will be relocating from Texas to Wisconsin in October. He will eventually join Andi Miller on the 89Q Morning Show while also working alongside Program Director Mike Lanser to support and grow 89Q’s programming.
