In partnership with Vidare Creative, WCIF/Melbournee, FL has changed formats after more than 40 years on the air. The station recently flipped from a hybrid CCM mix of music and teaching programs to a predominantly modern Praise & Worship mix, branding itself as “Hope 106.3 – Worship for the Space Coast.”

Many of the teaching programs have moved to the website to make room for more music.

Announcers on the air include Brant & Sherri – mornings, Hannah Ayers – middays, Bill Scott – afternoons, & Chad Bradley – evenings.

“This is such a bold move and a new season for Hope 106.3.  So many families are going to be impacted along the Space Coast with worship music,” says Bill Scott of Vidare Creative.

In the coming weeks, Vidare will assist the station in hiring a new General Manager to lead the ministry through the transition and new focus. In May this year WCIF entered into a management agreement with Vidare Creative and long-time WCIF GM Martha Root announced she would would be retiring. Three WGTS/Wash DC announcers recently rappelled down a 17-year-story building to help raise money for Haitian orphans. “Over the Edge” is a yearly event encouraging people to face their fears by rappelling from tall buildings to raise money for charity, specifically the Holistic Haitian Alliance this year. This D.C. area charity provides food, clothing, housing, education, and medical care for close to 100 Haitian orphans.

“This is the third consecutive year that I’ve climbed down the building,” says WGTS Morning Show Host and Marketing Director Jerry Woods. “I was a little apprehensive the first year, but now it’s so much fun. It’s such an incredible way to support kids, and as a dad, I never want to see a child suffer.”

WGTS Afternoon Show Hosts Johnny and Stacey Stone broadcasted live from the event and even talked with Jerry Woods while he was rappelling down the building with his morning co-host Summer Shepherd. All total, 86 rappellers raised almost $200,000 for the Holistic Haitian Alliance.

Pictured WGTS Morning Show Co-Host Summer Shepherd considers whether or not rappelling was a good life choice.

Today is the 26th anniversary of the death of Rich Mullins. Mullins was killed in an auto accident in Illinois on Sep 19, 1997, He was 41.

“Christianity is not about building an absolutely secure little niche in the world where you can live with your perfect little wife and your perfect little children in your beautiful little house where you have no gays or minority groups anywhere near you. Christianity is about learning to love like Jesus loved and Jesus loved the poor and Jesus loved the broken.”
