Inside Radio’s monthly report on top radio formats in the U.S. shows country and religion (religion being stations featuring religious teaching, hymns and other related content) as number 1 and 2. But last year the formats were separated by a wide margin of 97 outlets. Over the past 12 months, country lost 27 stations, religion added 69, giving it a total 2,140 stations in January vs. country’s 2,141.

Grammy Award–winning duo for KING + COUNTRY has released a new single, “Ever & Ever Before,” a song that reflects on enduring commitment and marriage rather than the thrill of new romance.

The world’s largest gathering of Christian communicators is just two weeks away at the Gaylord Opryland for NRB 2026 Feb 17-20.
Highlights include new Media Labs on AI, new media, and church media; main-stage speakers like HB Charles Jr., Nicole C. Mullen, Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, and Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth; the TV Showcase, Pitch-a-Thon, and more. NRB recently filed FCC comments on media ownership rules, stressing the risks of consolidation for local faith-based broadcasters.

The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), a global nonprofit evangelical ministry headquartered in Virginia Beach, announced layoffs on Tuesday. About three dozen local employees are affected, according to CBN spokesperson Chris Roslan.
The layoffs represent roughly 3.7% of CBN’s worldwide workforce and about 8.4% of its U.S.-based staff. Roslan said the move is part of a strategic realignment aimed at concentrating resources on growth areas and long-term impact. Operation Blessing, CBN’s humanitarian relief arm, is not impacted.
“We are deeply grateful for the dedication of all our employees and remain committed to advancing our mission with integrity, effectiveness, and compassion,” the organization said in the statement. Roslan said severance packages, based on employee tenure, will be provided.
Founded in 1960 by Pat Robertson, CBN is one of the world’s largest Christian media ministries and is best known for its flagship television program, The 700 Club. According to its most recent tax filing, the organization employed more than 1,100 people nationwide in 2024.
WAWZ/New York (Star 99.1) turns 23 today. February 3, 2003 the station flipped the switch from Christian Preaching to Christian AC. Its original format at WAWZ was traditional and classical music and church services. In later years inspirational contemporary Christian music and Christian teaching and talk shows were added. The format tagline was WAWZ – Your Voice of Faith and Inspiration. The station is listener supported/commercial and owned by the Pillar of Fire International. Call letters WAWZ honor Bishop Alma White, who was the founder of the Pillar of Fire Church and Zarephath. This is what it sounded like on that first day in 2003, Go HERE.
Family Radio has been broadcasting since February 4, 1959. The Christian network celebrates 67 years of sharing the Gospel. Today Family Radio includes over 40 full-power stations and an additional 27 FM translators.
Family Radio moved its headquarters from Alameda, CA to Nashville (Franklin) in January 2020.

Salem Media announced today the transfer of ownership of the Today’s Christian Music and Today’s Worship Music networks to the Christian FM Media Group.
Jon Hamilton, Christian FM’s President commented, “We are delighted to be able to carry the important legacy of the Salem Music Network into the future. Many of the wonderful talent associated with Salem’s network and local CCM stations will be working with us and will continue to encourage listeners on affiliated stations across America.” Hamilton added, “In the months ahead, we will be making some exciting new delivery technology available to these stations, allowing even greater music flexibility and more personality choices. Christian FM has long been known for creating unique custom content to stations and we intend to expand this capability to the TCM and TWM affiliates as well.”
