Singer-songwriter Josiah Queen recently achieved a notable milestone in CCM with his debut album, The Prodigal, reaching the top spot on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart for the week dated June 8. The 21-year-old Florida native’s self-released album soared to the top without the backing of a record label.

Queen began sharing his music on TikTok and Instagram at age 16, starting with “God of Miracles” in 2020, and has consistently released new music since then. His notable tracks include “Use Me” and “Grave Clothes” in 2022, and his breakthrough 2023 songs “I Am Barabbas” and “Fishes and Loaves,” the latter of which narrates the biblical story of Jesus feeding 5,000 people with fish and bread.

A year ago, Queen’s TikTok clip for “I Am Barabbas” went viral, garnering nearly 2 million views. Around that time, he began collaborating with co-managers Matt Reed (Hyphen Media Group) and Devin Poindexter (Mad Jack Management). The song marked Queen’s first entry on Hot Christian Songs in April, peaking at No. 38.

Yahoo Music reports, Queen’s music gained traction on radio with the help of independent promoters, including Grant Hubbard, formerly a longtime VP at Capitol Christian Music Group, as well as Jen Mouttet, Rick Steimling, and Hyphen Media Group’s Tamara Moore. Even before assembling this team, K-LOVE reached out to Queen, indicating they would add his song to their rotation. This support led him to reconsider his stance on signing with a label.

KGGN/Hemet (102.5 The Vine FM) launched its 3rd annual Chill Out Summer Stops on Wednesday, June 19.

KGGN GM Chris Thompson, says, “With the kids out of school for the summer and the temperatures reaching 100 degrees, free snow cones from Kona Ice help our listeners chill out. The Vine FM team really enjoys the opportunity to share the hope of the gospel with our listeners who simply stop by for some summer treats to help beat the summer heat.”

As part of a busy summer, The Vine FM team is excited to take Chill Out Summer Stops to six locations in Southwest Riverside County. The events bring listeners face-to-face with local businesses that support 102.5 The Vine FM and foster community engagement. “Our underwriters and supporters also connect through this promotion,” Thompson states. “Kids are provided oral hygiene kits and faith-based coloring sheets provided by local businesses and organizations who, like The Vine FM, are striving to carry out the work of the gospel.” Chill Out Summer Stops are scheduled at various dates and locations through mid-August 2024.
