Salem Media announced that Larry O’Connor will lead its national morning lineup from 6:00–9:00 a.m. Eastern beginning May 4. The program will air across the Salem Radio Network and the Salem News Channel.
O’Connor is best known as the host of O’Connor & Company morning show on WMAL/Washington, D.C., and as Editor of Townhall.com. As part of this expansion, O’Connor & Company will continue in its longstanding 6:00–9:00 a.m. Eastern time slot on WMAL while also serving as Salem’s flagship national morning program, bringing its trusted voice and insider perspective to audiences nationwide.
“Larry is the go-to media voice for the people shaping policy in our nation’s capital,” said Phil Boyce, Senior Vice President of Content at Salem Media. “He’s built a show insiders rely on and an audience that cares deeply about the direction of the country. We’re proud to expand that success across our national lineup, leading the conversation every morning across America.”
According to Inside Radio the religion format—covering stations focused on teaching, hymns, and related programming is again in the top spot of monthly station rankings. After overtaking country for the first time in February 2026, it continues to hold the lead. In March, religion outpaced country by 40 stations. That margin held nearly steady in April at 39, with religion losing just one station while country remained unchanged. That’s notable, considering country had dominated as the nation’s largest format for more than a decade.
Growth remains solid. Religion is up 3.4% year-over-year—well ahead of most other formats in the top 10—and maintains a 1.4% gain so far this year.
Outside of religion, only two other top-10 formats are growing both year-over-year and year-to-date. Contemporary Christian, typically ranked fourth, is up 2.3% compared to last April and essentially flat month-to-month. Classic rock, in eighth place, has posted a 1.1% annual increase and a 0.6% gain since the start of the year.

Iglesia Cristinia Restauracion y Vida has filed a $40,000 deal to buy KBPO/Port Neches, Texas (1150) from Christian Ministries of the Valley. The buyer currently owns owns KLNT/Laredo, TX (1490).
Priority Radio has filed a $124,000 deal to buy translator W245AG at 96.9 FM/Glenside, PA from Four Rivers Community Broadcasting.

Your Network of Praise (YNOP) will launch New Life Africa Satellite Network (NLASN) on May 1st. New Life Africa Satellite Network will air a format of teaching programs and music, hosted by announcers from a number of countries across Africa. Programming will be in English and Swahili. The network will broadcast via a direct-to-home satellite which reaches about 50 countries in Africa, online and through apps for mobile devices, and will make its programming available to local FM radio stations throughout Africa.
