NRB Director of Events

National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) is the world’s largest association of Christian communicators, representing organizations reaching millions across traditional and digital media. NRB equips and supports its members through training, resources, and advocacy to ensure the Gospel is communicated freely and effectively. As a nonpartisan, international association, NRB promotes biblical truth, media excellence, and the defense of free speech across all forms of Christian media.
Our headquarters is located in Washington, D.C. near Capitol Hill, which keeps us closely engaged with Congress, the FCC, the courts, and the Executive Branch on issues affecting Christian media. We have a secondary office in Nashville, TN.
Position Summary:
The Director of Events oversees all aspects of event operations for the annual convention, including the exposition hall (with 250+ exhibitors), sponsorship opportunities, affiliate events and program structure. This position ensures the convention aligns with NRB’s mission to advance biblical truth through Christian media while delivering exceptional attendee experiences, strong revenue generation, and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, hospitality, or related field preferred (master’s degree a plus).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in event, exhibit, or trade show; experience with faith-based or media events strongly preferred.
- Proven leadership experience at a senior level, ideally with responsibility for driving organizational growth and performance.
- Experience with exhibit shows highly desired.
- Hotel Management experience highly preferred.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Christian broadcasting, media, and ministry environments strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to develop and lead sales strategies that meet or exceed revenue goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with conflict resolution.
- Strong relationship-building skills with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools.
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Quick learner with adaptability to new platforms and technology.
- Present a neat and professional appearance and consistently exhibit competence and grace in interpersonal and social settings.
- Ability to support occasional evenings/weekends during peak seasons and major events (Convention, Capitol Hill Media Summit, etc.).
- Willingness to travel for NRB events as needed.
- Mature, committed Christian faith and full alignment with NRB’s Mission, Statement of Faith, and Code of Ethics.

Responsibilities:
Event Strategy & Vision
- Provide vision, strategy, and direction for NRB’s events, with primary focus on the annual convention.
- Develop and execute long-term growth strategies for attendance growth, exhibitor participation, sponsorships, and program impact, in alignment with NRB’s mission.
- Establish event success metrics, operational goals, and strategic priorities, providing regular updates and performance insights.
- Continually evaluate and enhance the spiritual, relational, and professional value of NRB events.
Convention Planning & Execution
- Oversee all aspects of convention planning and on-site execution, ensuring a seamless and meaningful experience for all participants.
- Manage volunteers for event preparation, setup, implementation, and tear-down.
- Coordinate with venues, hotels, vendors, and production teams to deliver events marked by excellence and intentionality.
- Manage timelines, budgets, contracts, and logistics with strong attention to detail and stewardship.
- Serve as the primary point-of-contact and decision-maker during event execution.
Exhibits & Sponsorship Oversight
- Supervise the Sr. Event Sales Manager in developing and executing exhibit and sponsorship strategies.
- Ensure faithful stewardship and fulfillment of all exhibitor and sponsor commitments.
- Foster strong relationships with partners who support the mission and work of NRB.
Program & Speaker Management
- Oversee the development of a compelling, mission-aligned program, including general sessions, breakouts, and special events.
- Supervise the Program Specialist in speaker recruitment, communication, and care.
- Ensure speakers are supported well and that content equips and inspires attendees in their work and ministry.
Registration & Attendee Experience
- Oversee registration strategy and systems to create a smooth and welcoming experience for attendees.
- Supervise the Convention Registrar/Administrative Assistant in managing registration and attendee communication.
- Continuously enhance the attendee journey, from first interaction through post-event engagement.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team with a spirit of humility, collaboration, and service.
- Foster a culture that reflects NRB’s values, encouraging both professional excellence and personal growth.
- Set clear goals and expectations while supporting team members in their roles.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging, effective promotion, and alignment with organizational priorities.
- Support relationships with media, affiliate organizations, and ministry partners connected to NRB events.
- Partner with Marketing on promotional timelines, messaging, and campaign execution to ensure strong visibility and engagement.
Budgeting & Stewardship
- Develop and manage event budgets with a commitment to wise stewardship of resources.
- Monitor revenue streams and expenses to ensure financial sustainability and impact.
General Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned by NRB executives.
- Operate with the highest ethical standards and professionalism.
