On December 7th Vision Christian Media/Queensland celebrates 35 years of ministry. Vision Christian Media operates Vision Christian Radio launched in 1988, under the original name of United Christian Broadcasters. Today it’s grown to over 750 radio transmitters all over Australia; an app with unlimited reach potential; a streamed Christian worldview national news service; plus a range of devotional publications and digital channels currently reaching around one million people per month.
Don’t miss the special Feature Guest Article from WKNZ/Milford (The Bridge) President/GM/mornings Bill Sammons titled “My Exit Interview” next week on HisAir. In September Sammons announced his plans to retire from broadcasting and his full-time role with the stations effective January 1, 2024. Bill’s vision for local Christian radio was realized when he built Delaware’s first Christian station in 1990, WXPZ-FM, known as The Light FM. Sammons and his morning show co-host, Denise Harper, began working together on the air in 1991 at The Light FM, and reunited in 2010 at The Bridge. Sammons will remain on the board of directors of The Bridge of Hope, Inc., licensee of The Bridge radio stations, and he plans to continue as a volunteer, a listener, and a donor to the non-profit ministry.
Here’s an excerpt: “KLOVE and WGTS bought stations in this market after us, and as much as I love those guys, I want to out-serve them, out-promote our station, and beat them in the ratings. But you know what? I also want them to succeed. And I am pretty sure they want us to succeed. I have a feeling the iHeart station across town doesn’t feel the same way about the Forever Media station. I also can’t see them sitting in the same room at a CMB event sharing ideas, offering help and then praying for each other.”
KTSY/Boise is launching the annual Hope For Christmas Home Improvement project where an entire home is transformed for a family in need. Local contractors completely remodel a home and with KTSY meet the physical needs and wishes of a handful of households. The winner(s) will be announced during a live on-air reveal this Friday, December 8, 2023, at 7:00am with the completed project revealed to the family on Friday December 15.
HisAir FLASHBACK – Dec 7, 2021 – Marci Truckey is back on the morning show at Your Network Of Praise/Kalispell (YNOP). Marci exited the station in Oct 2020 to work with her 5 kids at home, because of the shifting school schedules during the pandemic.
At NRB 2024, the Great Commission Forum, scheduled for Tuesday, February 20, will feature Andrew Palau and Bishop Sunday Onuoha. The annual Great Commission Forum provides a special opportunity for all Christian communicators to gain insights into the worldwide reach of Christian media. The Great Commission Reception, held just prior to the Great Commission Forum, is an opportunity to form personal connections with international colleagues.
