WFSH/Atlanta (104.7 The Fish) air talent Beth Bacall won a Gabby Award for “Best On-Air Personality for Large Market Radio” at GABCON the annual event held by The Georgia Broadcaster’s Association (GAB).

The gathering, held on September 15 and 16, 2023 brought together industry leaders and professionals to inspire and celebrate excellence and innovation in broadcasting. GABCON continues to be the largest and most influential gathering of radio and television broadcasters in Georgia, fostering collaboration, innovation, and the celebration of excellence in the field.

Podcast host Nik Curtis Beal of Bandkind joined Killer Bee Studios in the Horizon World (virtual reality) to talk with a live studio audience about real life transformation and identifying God in our story.

Nik told HisAir, “To a novice, becoming an avatar is not without its functioning challenges in the Metaverse, but the message of the human voice was clear and strong. Transformation is happening across the “real” world (no matter what world you happen to jump into). Grateful to Brian Curee (Mr. Killer Bee) and his co-host (Mrs Killer Bee) for their presence and good work in virtual reality and their outreach to many looking for real, lasting hope. WCSG/Grand Rapids has launched a new podcast titled “Through Rough Waters”. Hosted by Assistant Program Director and on-air host, Zach Groenendal and Kevin DeKam from the local counseling organization West Michigan Wellness Group, Through Rough Waters explores the world of mental health with a Biblical perspective. Each episode features scripture, listener Q&A and a focus topic with insight and support from Christian Licensed Professional Counselors.

Zach says, “I am so grateful for this platform and the ability to have this important discussion. As someone who has been working through anxiety and depression for my entire life, it’s so important to me to remove the stigma of mental health issues and therapy – especially within the world of Christianity. It is my hope that everyone who engages with this podcast will realize that they are not alone in their struggles and that they will reach out and begin the therapy process.”

Program Director Brittany Riva says, “As a Christian radio station, I believe we have a responsibility to engage in difficult, important conversations. ‘Through Rough Waters’ allows WCSG to engage with our listeners on a platform that allows us to give the time and space that these conversations deserve. Zach has done a wonderful job launching it and we are excited to offer this to our listeners. It’s just the beginning of new ways we are looking to serve and build relationships with
our listeners.”

New episodes release bi-weekly on Tuesdays, and can be found on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and at wcsg.org
