In a new book written by one of our own, veteran Christian Radio broadcaster Jon Fugler addresses an issue faced by many in Christian radio. Silence Your Inner Pharisee helps long-time believers escape the trap of performance-based Christian living and embrace radical freedom in Christ.

Fugler tells his story of decades of service in Christian ministry which wrongly defined his relationship with Christ. Through a Christian radio colleague, he was introduced to a new way of living, restoring health to his relationship with God. This resulted in a personal renewal.

Sandi Brown, founder of JOY FM St. Louis said, “Passion vs. performance. It is easier to focus on the Kingdom work we do, rather than the passion for the lover of our souls. Silence Your Inner Pharisee shows us how to focus more on a growing our relationship with Christ than doing more to earn his favor. Such a good reminder, especially for those in full time ministry.”

Stories in the book bring biblical principles to life. Besides Fugler’s own story, other longtime believers share their experiences of overcoming barriers to experiencing a rich relationship with Christ. And, at the end of each chapter, Fugler leads the reader through a series of questions to help review and reconsider their story.

In the book’s Foreword, Christian artist Phil Stacey writes, “As you delve into the pages of Silence Your Inner Pharisee, prepare to be captivated by a compelling and heartfelt narrative that serves as a source of inspiration for your spiritual journey.”

Commenting on the relevance of the book, Fugler said, “Pharisees were some of the most learned, obedient religious leaders of the day. They knew the Law and they lived it out. They looked shiny on the outside, but they were spiritually sick on the inside. Many of us in Christian radio are the same way. We know something is wrong but we don’t really know what.”

Fugler says it all comes back to knowing Jesus in the way our Savior intended. “Knowing Jesus is the secret to life,” he says in the closing line of the book. The content inside explains how. Silence Your Inner Pharisee: Ditch Performance and Embrace Radical Freedom in Christ is available in Kindle and paperback formats on Amazon. Fugler has been filling his schedule with on-air and podcast interviews since the book was released June 7. You can contact him at jon@freshfaith247.com.
