As Hurricane Ian barreled towards Florida, the team at Food For The Poor (FFTP) intently watched every wobble and turn in its path.

“We saw the devastation of Hurricane Fiona on Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and even Haiti, where a few inches of rain are catastrophic. With our office in Coconut Creek, we had already started preparing not just our homes and families but also for our immediate Hurricane Response,” shares FFTP on-air radio fundraiser, Paul Jacobs.

The flood waters from Ian’s wrath were still rising when SRN’s personality and longtime friend of FFTP Mike Gallagher, MikeOnline.com, contacted the Christian charity offering to raise funds for Ian’s victims.

Tom Tradup, V.P./News & Talk Programming for SRN, tells HisAir: “The devastation Ian visited on homes and businesses in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas is heartbreaking…and we’re grateful that Food For The Poor has stepped in with their network of ministry partners and local churches to turn our listeners’ donations into immediate help for survivors.”

Longtime FFTP radio partner WTBN/Pinellas Park, FL (LetsTalkFaith.com.), broadcasting throughout the Tampa Bay area, was quick to lend their support and airways to the effort. The charity is also partnering with the Florida Catholic Conference and the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church to get help to devastated families. Donations raised through the radio will provide desperately needed portable generators along with Disaster and Flood Relief kits filled with the materials victims need to start the clean-up process.

FFTP President/CEO Ed Raine explains, “Although the primary focus of our work remains in developing countries where we serve, where there are no safety nets, this will allow us to help our brothers and sisters in Southwest Florida who are suffering,”

Pictured Volunteers in Food For The Poor’s Coconut Creek warehouse prepared 5-gallon buckets that will be filled with donated cleaning supplies to help families in Southwest Florida recovering from Hurricane Ian.
