In mid-March, when the COVID-19 pandemic started affecting the everyday lives and finances of millions of Americans, Family Life Radio/Tucson decided the right thing to do was to postpone their scheduled Spring Sharathon and focus on encouraging the families they reach. On April 30 they held a 1-Day “Keep Hope Alive” event to help cover the funding gap until the rescheduled Sharathon in June. The entire event was hosted remotely, with the Family Life Radio personalities and Vidare Creative hosts/coaches all connecting from their home studios. The event exceeded all expectations, according to FLR Program Director Mike Kankelfritz, “We held our 1-day fundraiser on April 30th and were overwhelmed by the response from our Family Life Radio listeners. We are thanking and praising God for the results. With help from Vidare Creative, we ended the day at over 200% of the goal. God is good!”

Sally Barton, the ministry’s Chief Broadcast Engagement Officer also commented, “The hearts of God’s people were ready to give to increase His Kingdom message at such a time as this. We just opened the mic and offered the opportunity to be active in their faith.”

Vidare Creative Chief Business Officer Paul Goldsmith added, “Congratulations to Family Life Radio! They have obviously invested in their listeners and the listeners showed their appreciation. Vidare Creative continues to work with clients to find innovative solutions to not only survive, but to thrive during this unprecedented time.” To explore how Vidare Creative can work with your ministry, contact Paul Goldsmith at paul@vidarecreative.com

From the NAB: In response to the introduction of the Local News and Emergency Information Act, bipartisan House legislation from House Antitrust Subcommittee Chairman David N. Cicilline (D-RI) and Ranking Member Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) that would expand eligibility for U.S. Small Business Administration loan access to struggling local newspapers and radio and television stations, the following statement can be attributed to NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith:

“NAB thanks Reps. Cicilline and Sensenbrenner for introducing bipartisan legislation that would help local media outlets weather unprecedented advertising losses. Today’s legislation builds on the letter these legislators led last month with bipartisan support of more than 120 of their House colleagues.

“Expanding eligibility for Payroll Protection Program loans for local radio and TV stations and newspapers would support lifeline journalism and fact-based reporting of the COVID-19 pandemic. We look forward to working with Reps. Cicilline and Sensenbrenner and their counterparts in the Senate on Coronavirus economic relief efforts that strengthen local media and journalism in hometowns across America.”
