Brian Wright “Thanksgiving Edition”

Being thankful is not one of the things we often talk about in radio circles these days especially when life is upside down from a pandemic, business closings, political unrest and industry furloughs all over the country but… we need to find the strength to give thanks within our circumstances. Many of our greatest leaders and humanitarians emerged through hardship and pain. Taking the time to be thankful provides long lasting satisfaction and makes us make us better people, and better broadcasters.

Here’s what you can do today to enhance your life and those around you! First, take the time to be thankful for your family and friends. While many around you have let you down, your family and friends are there through thick and thin. Let these people provide you with the motivation you need to do your very best. When others let you down, do not let them take you down with them. Remember misery loves company and many are miserable.

Second, take time to be thankful for those who work very hard with you. We often take these people for granted. Yes, it is their job to work hard, but everyone needs appreciation and affirmation. Remember, those who work the hardest for you are doing it because of appreciation and respect for you, NOT just because it’s their job.

Third, take the time to be thankful for your listeners as well. This appreciation will help you develop a deeper relationship with them. Do not look at these individuals as numbers on a spreadsheet. Instead, see them as real people living on Main Street. Take the time to get to know them as much as possible. Take an extra few moments with listeners when they call, let them know that you genuinely appreciate them. This relationship building will lead to your listeners telling others about you.

A thankful heart will lead to great things.
