Ace Heads To Birmingham
WJQK/Grand Rapids (JQ99) PD morning host Ace McKay is joining 93.7 WDJC/Birmingham to co-host the afternoon program “The Way Home” with Stephanie Plumb. McKay will then take over hosting duties while Plumb is on maternity leave later this summer. Ace told HisAir.Net earlier this month he would be leaving the station and moving south to be near his Dad who’s been ill.
McKay is a Birmingham native and began his career in Birmingham 26 years ago at Oldies 106.9. For the past 19 years, McKay has worked in Christian radio for WAY FM Network, Star 88.3 in Fort Wayne, and for the past four years, JQ 99.3 in Grand Rapids. He is a five-time Air Award winner.
In addition to his love of radio, McKay is also a musician, author, speaker, graphic/web designer, father to two daughters and most importantly, a Christian. After years of playing in clubs and bars, McKay had the opportunity to give back in worship through performances at churches across the country and to help expand the Ascension Worship Network.
“I survived the brutal winters of Indiana and Michigan and am thrilled to be back home in the South in Birmingham where I grew up,” McKay says. “I look forward to building relationships with families in the area as we minister to our listeners. I’m strapping in for this amazing ride.”
