The Sound of Life Radio Network/Lake Katrine, NY celebrates 39 years on the air today. The network serves eastern New York State, northern New Jersey, northeast Pennsylvania, and western New England. The network signed on with WFGB/Kingston, NY (89.7) on January 9, 1985.
The network’s Cup ‘A Joe Morning Show is hosted by Joe Hunter who has been on the air with the network since 1993.
It all started in the early 1985 when a dedicated group of people had a vision for a listener supported Christian radio station in the Hudson Valley. The radio station’s mission was to support and encourage people to know God, and to reach out to those who wanted to know him.
Now nearly four decades later, The Sound of Life Radio Network has grown to cover much of eastern New York and parts of five other states, as well as an internet and digital media presence.
Network CEO Connie VanKleek, who’s been with the network 37 1/2 years told HisAir, “The Sound of Life has been blessed to bring the love of Christ to the northeast for these past 39 years because of the faithful support of our many listeners! Our area is often thought of as a spiritually dark region, but God has allowed us to be here as a light and “lifeline” for many. Our prayer is that we’re able to continue to share this awesome music with many more who need to hear God’s word through it! And I’m sure blessed that I’ve gotten to be here for most of the 39 years these stations have been on the air!”
