WRVL Tornado Relief
Five tornadoes struck parts of Central Virginia recently destroying homes and businesses in parts of the WRVL/Lynchburg (The Journey) listening area. The Journey partnered with Gleaning For The World for relief supply drives at the local Sam’s Club. Three tractor trailers were filled with supplies and taken to the hardest hit areas to be distributed. Morning show hosts Kenny Robinson and Brittany Minard were on site during the day and did reports on the air every 30 minutes. They also spoke with members of the local Salvation Army and Thomas Road Baptist Church which set up shelters, arraigned for clean up crews and did supply collections of their own. Program Director Kenny Robinson said “it’s going to be a long road to recovery for many of our neighbors. Hundreds of homes and businesses were destroyed. But this community was immediate with it’s response and we were thankful to help be the megaphone and the mouthpiece to get the word out on how to help”.
