WGTS Names New Morning Co-Host
As reported on HisAir WGTS/Wash DC has hired Summer Shepherd as its new morning co-host. She will join existing host Jerry Woods and producer Claude Jennings to continue sharing hope with the D.C. Metro region. Former WGTS morning show co-host Blanca Vega resigned in Oct 2022 after 10 years to focus on her health and family.
Currently Summer is afternoon host at WNWC/Madison (Life 102.5) where she’s been the last 7 years, and hosts two podcasts for Northwestern Media including “No Seriously, How Do I Do This?” and “The Connected Life Book Club.” Her new role at WGTS starts in early April.
“To say my emotions are bittersweet would be putting things lightly. I have loved my time with Northwestern more than I can say. It’s a family I never thought I’d leave,” said Shepherd. “The solace is knowing that I have found another amazing family in WGTS. Having gone to school to be a missionary, I can see God working clearly as He opens doors to a true mission field in Washington, D.C. Our family is so excited to be stepping into this new role and new world, eager to see what God is going to do.”
WGTS program director Brennan Wimbish said, “We’re grateful to have Summer join Jerry and Claude on the morning show. I’m excited for her and the team to build an even deeper connection to listeners in the D.C. area.”
