WBGL Fights Human Trafficking

For the 4th year, WBGL/Champaign formed a team to participate in the Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon to raise awareness about human trafficking. All team members were asked to fundraise, with all proceeds benefiting International Justice Mission. IJM is the world’s largest international anti-slavery organization, working to fight modern day slavery, human trafficking, and other forms of violence against the poor.

Nearly 330 walkers and runners joined the WBGL team and participated in a variety of races from a 5K to a full marathon on April 21-22 in Champaign-Urbana, IL, and many others purchased t-shirts and a custom art print to support the cause. Together, WBGL listeners and those in the races raised just over $64,000 and fully funded 9 Freedom Packages through International Justice Mission – each package includes a rescue operation and aftercare for those rescued.
