Vision Christian Radio Making Changes
Radio veteran Andrew “Robbo” Robinson is ending his tenure with Vision Christian Radio breakfast show “Rise & Shine”, moving into management after more than 4000 shows. Radio and online Christian personality DJ Paine will fill Robbo’s chair to form a new on-air duo alongside long-time Rise & Shine host Becci Johnstone.
DJ accepted the new role after previously leading breakfast shows in Geelong for 96three FM and the online startup TheTelly.live.
Vision CEO Phil Edwards said he was excited to bring DJ to Vision’s national audience. “Vision has been working hard to see God’s Word reach every corner of Australia through media since 1988, making it available for free to whoever might listen, read or watch,” he said.
“We see this move as part of a new era of growth for Vision, and we believe that DJ is the right personality for breakfast as we begin our first steps into the world of digital broadcast radio for the very first time.
“Both Vision Christian Radio and our music station V180 Radio are coming to the city of Brisbane via DAB+ Digital in April.”
DJ, who has worked in radio since 1994, said he was honored to carry on the legacy that Robbo had built at Vision, particularly over the past eight years alongside Becci Johnstone.
“If you had told me two months ago that I would be moving my life back to South East Queensland to work at Vision’s national studios I would have laughed in your face, but thank goodness God had other plans,” he said. “This new opportunity to work for the incredible ministry of Vision is truly a match made in heaven and I can’t wait to work with Becci.”
Vision Christian Media has grown to 795 radio transmitters all over Australia reaching over one million people per month, and is based in Springwood, Queensland.
