Vidare Creative WCVO Sharathon

In March, when the coronavirus pandemic started to close schools and businesses nationwide, WCVO/Columbus (104.9 The River) was midway through their annual Spring Sharathon. Quickly deciding it was a better time to encourage listeners than to raise money, they shut down sharathon and invested heavily in communicating hope. At the time they suspended the fundraiser, the station was over $100,000 from their minimum funding need.

May 19-20 The River came back to their listeners to finish the work. And the listeners responded. At the end of the two day event, the station raised 110% of their goal. Dan Baughman, River CEO & President commented, “In these very uncertain times we are desperately trying so hard to find some normalcy. We get emails all the time from our community, thanking the River for being there for them in their time of need. We Praise God how He has used the River to touch and change lives.”

Dave Kirby, Chief Creative Officer for Vidare Creative added, “In my 25 years of radio fundraising, I’ve seen it over and over. When a station puts their listeners first, the audience responds. Congratulations to The River on an amazing result in the middle of an unprecedented time in our history.”
