The Fish Little Rock Anniversary

Today KKSP/Little Rock (93.3 The Fish) celebrates 9 years on the air today. The Salem Media owned station flipped to CCM on April 1, 2015 following the purchase from Capitol City Broadcasting for $1.5 mil.

KKSP PD Steve Marston tells HisAir how it came together in putting the station on the air, “I moved to central Arkansas in 1996 and found that there wasn’t a CCM station in the market. I thought to myself, “with the right ownership and management, it could be a big success” Jump ahead to 2014, Allen Power hired me to help launch Salem Little Rock. Then in 2015, corporate told our team that we were going to launch The Fish and a news talk format on the same day…in four weeks time! With the amazing help of Mike Prendergast and others from the KLTY/Dallas team, as well as the dynamic engineering duo of Scott Foster and Scott Spillers, we were able to launch both on April 1, 2015 (no fooling).”

in 2018 The Fish welcomed Crowder to Magic Springs in Hot Springs, AR. The Fish hosted a fun promotion called Bumper Cars with Crowder!

Marston adds, “Couple that with our teach-talk station bringing in Tony Evans for a pastor’s event the day after, it’s one big blur.  We had listeners call and text in about how long they’ve been listening. Lacy called: I got clean 6 years ago and found your station not long after. I gave my life to Christ and I haven’t listened to anything else.”
