Lee Ann Jackson “3 Social Media Best Practices”

As 2022 begins to wind down, it’s a good time to take inventory of your social media presence in preparation for the new year around the corner.  Here are three best practices to help you on your path to optimizing your social media strategy:

1 – Understand Your Target Audience

Who is in your potential audience?  Think beyond demographics and start understanding them as real people with interests, challenges, and needs. Consider creating a buyer persona which would include such information about your audience as:

  • Interests/hobbies
  • Values
  • Challenges
  • Objectives
  • Needs
  • Types of content they enjoy

2 – Choose the Best Social Media Platforms

You don’t have to be on every social media platform.  Take time to determine which are the best social media channels for your radio station by:

  • Looking at what networks other radio stations are using.
  • Understanding the different platforms and their uses.
  • Monitoring your analytics to see which platforms bring you the most results.

3 – Diversify Your Content Strategy

It’s important to vary your social media content to keep your audience engaged and interested in your brand. Create a diverse content strategy and offer your audience content that informs, educates, entertains and gets them to interact.

Every social network is unique but there are ways to be successful across the ones your brand should be present on.  These are just three social media best practices to get you started (or to fine tune your craft!).
