KZTH & KLVV Win Oklahoma Community Service Award
The House FM (KZTH/Oklahoma City) & My Praise FM (KLVV/Ponca City) were recognized by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters (OAB) as a Community Service Award recipient. This is the fourteenth year in a row that the radio networks have been a recipient of the award. The House FM and My Praise FM are the only non-commercial networks to receive the award this year. Jamie Olivas, Promotions Director at the radio stations said, “It’s an honor to be employed at a ministry that consists of helping the community and sharing the love of Christ in every way we can.”
During the 2015 year, the radio networks participated in numerous community service efforts. The 14th annual “Kid DJ Day” provided a free, fun, informative day for families with 1,107 people in attendance. Children were given an opportunity to see what it’s like to be a radio DJ and enjoy free ice cream, face painting, a petting zoo, sky divers dropping in and more.
The House FM and My Praise FM sponsored three free Christian movies with two showings of each movie over the course of six months. 1,579 people watched three inspiring and uplifting Christian movies including “Where Was God”, “Do You Believe?”, “War Room”, and heard high-impact messages that assure God is always with us and working for our good.
In a partnership with The Salvation Army, the radio stations held “Turkey for Tunes” in November. Turkeys were collected to help feed families in Oklahoma City, Stillwater, Enid, Ponca City, Bartlesville, Shawnee, Elk City, Altus, Wichita and Arkansas City, KS. Listeners generously donated 539 total turkeys across the ten cities. Many families who wouldn’t have been able to afford a holiday meal were blessed by this outreach.
The House FM and My Praise FM partnered with Second Chance Ministries as they promoted and attended the “Thanks for Giving” outreach. KJTH/KZTH and KLVV provided an on-air campaign, sent a bulk email to approximately 33,000 people, advertised through their websites, and held a live remote from the collection date location encouraging people to donate winter wear on collection day, at no cost. The House FM also attended distribution day and distributed nearly 70 Bibles while hosting a live remote encouraging people in need to come get winter wear.
Doyle Brewer, CEO and Founder of the radio stations said, “The House FM and My Praise FM couldn’t lead out in these community events if it were not for the generous contributions of our listeners. It has been this kind of great community financial support that has allowed us to grow from one station to 16 stations in Oklahoma and Kansas in the past 23 years. Our volunteers are the best and jump in to help our staff constantly throughout the year to reach out to many communities where we are broadcasting.”
