KTSY Wild Fires Relief
A reminder of what local radio can do when a community needs it.
With wildfire smoke covering Idaho’s Treasure Valley, KTSY/Boise broadcast live on location and asked listeners to bring bottled water, electrolyte drinks, high-protein snacks and easy-to-open meals for firefighters working in Eastern Oregon.
KTSY’s signal serves that affected area through Ontario and Baker City, making the fires—and the crews working them—part of the station’s own community.
Listeners responded quickly. By the end of the broadcast, the box truck was packed and ready to carry supplies west.
No complicated campaign. Just a clear need, a live microphone and an audience that trusted the station enough to act.
This is local radio at its best: connecting people, serving the entire coverage area and turning concern into something useful.
