KSWP/KAVX Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls

In September, KSWP/KAVX/Lufkin partnered with Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls during the Fall Share-A-Thon. Donors helped fund the station’s operational needs and provide shoes and socks for 302 children. KSWP/KAVX President, Al Ross, said “When Co-vid halted plans for our annual in person shoe drive we went looking for ways to continue our partnership with Buckner in a new way this year. We are thankful for our listeners who caught the vision and pledged this support. It feels great to help those in need in real ways.”

“We are so grateful for our partnership with KSWP/KAVX during their Fall Share-A-Thon and for the generosity of all of those who supported the event. These gifts will not only help KSWP and KAVX minister to its listening audience and community. But now, more than 300 children in the Dominican Republic will experience the love of God through the gift of shoes – providing a basic need and promoting education, health, hope and opportunity in the middle of this difficult and uncertain time, globally. Each pair of shoes will help advance Buckner’s mission of following the example of Jesus in serving vulnerable children,” says, Shawn Spurrier, Assistant Director at Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls.

The shipment left the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid in Mesquite, TX this Tuesday morning and is headed to the Dominican Republic. The container also includes: beds, blankets, Bibles and other humanitarian aid items. These shoes (and other vital aid items) will be distributed to children and families served by our Family Hope Center’s three locations in The Dominican Republic.
