KNWS Cards for Kids
KNWS/Waterloo/Cedar Rapids (Life 101.9) encouraged listeners to participate in the second annual Cards for Kids drive. The initiative provides gift cards for gas, food and other necessities for families with a child receiving care at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Life 101.9 listeners answered the call in a big way, dropping off gift cards at station events, mailing them in and ordering from a special Amazon wish list.
In total, $8,000 in gift cards were donated, more than doubling the amount given last year. Sheri Austin, Supervisor/Concierge Services for University of Iowa Health Care said “We sincerely appreciate the extraordinary and compassionate gesture. Thank you for making a positive difference in the lives of pediatric patients and their families!” Life 101.9 Station Manager Matt Deane said “We are overwhelmed by the response of our listeners! It’s wonderful to see so many show the love of Jesus to families who are going through a difficult season.”
