KLJY And Boost 101.9 Morning Of “Help & Hope”

KLJY/St Louis (99.1 JOY FM) and sister station KPVR/St Louis (Boost 101.9) held a morning of “Help & Hope” today. Pastors, counselors & station staff answered calls on the hotlines from listeners with prayer needs.

KLJY Program Director Mike Couchman told HisAir, “This morning, both of our stations tossed the format from 6 to 10 AM. We had our staff (on and off air) and some of our artists do breaks with our hosts about their hardest struggles. Porn addiction. Depression. You name it. The hope was that when listeners heard us getting more real than we already do, they’d call and get prayer. The prayer was handled by dozens of local pastors we recruited.”

To follow up the stations connected a few to counseling, ministries/charities who specialize in their struggle, etc. More than 600 calls and texts (still counting the text messages). The stations offered to send Bibles to anyone who needed one and also used their “Help & Hope” on-air efforts to drive listeners to off-air events they’re hosting next week with partners at the St. Louis Counseling Center. They’ll have one evening just for women, focused on the issues they asked for prayer about the most. (That one is all filled up already). And another evening just for men and their challenges.

The local CBS TV affiliate sent a reporter over and did three live cut-ins during their “Great Day St. Louis” show. Watch a live report HERE.
