KFNW Receives Donations To Help Babies In Need
KFNW/Fargo (Life 97.9) listeners were asked to donate diapers and baby wipes for babies staying at Churches United for the Homeless. Between the months of June –September, Life 97.9 held sixteen Sticker Stops throughout the Red River Valley and listeners responded by dropping off donations for the babies.
A total of 2,323 diapers and 6,792 baby wipes were collected. Furthermore, $300 was raised which will provide additional needs for the babies at the shelter.
According to Babs Coler, Churches United for the Homeless Chief Development Officer, the shelter goes through 20,000 diapers per month.
Churches United for the Homeless was formed in 1987 by a group of local churches. In January 2019, Churches United merged with the Dorothy Day Food Pantry and the Dorothy Day House to work together towards our common goals.
Life 97.9 Listener Engagement Director, Carly Viland, said, “When we heard that Churches United for the Homeless had a number of premature babies in the shelter, we wanted to share this with our listeners because we have an ability to reach people in the community that Churches United maybe can’t reach. Together we can help love more people in this community and fill the gaps where there are needs.”
