KBMQ Helps Historic School
KBMQ/Monroe (88.7 The Cross) recently matched community donations to help rebuild the historic Boley Elementary School – which was completely destroyed by a fire after a lightning strike. (KBMQ GM Bryan Cordill presents check at left).
Fortunately, no one was injured, and the school was covered by insurance, but teachers and students lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in personal property and supplies. The night of the fire, the Board of Directors at 88.7 The Cross agreed to match up to $17,500 in gifts provided to the station.
In less than a week, the full amount was met – and just over $35,000 was donated to help the teachers and kids! Principal Bates says the school community is so thankful to the ArkLaMiss for opening their hearts and wallets to help Boley Elementary get back on its feet.
