Jerry Woods “Resolutions for Your Promotions”
Top 5 New Year’s Resolutions for Your Promotions
As we prepare for 2025, let’s talk about New Year’s Resolutions for promotions at your radio station. Promotions often pop up suddenly and look great, just like that impulse purchase of that king-size candy bar in the check-out line. But just like that candy bar, if you haven’t planned, you can end up with more calories or, in this case, more commitments than you had planned. That’s why the time is now to set yourself up to succeed.
Here are five things you can be thinking about now to help your 2025 run smoothly. I call it PAINS, and dealing with it now means you won’t have pain later.
-Put the big items on the calendar now. This would be your fundraisers, annual events that happen no matter what, and anything the boss says is a sure thing.
-Add any significant community events in your town (i.e., The Mother’s Day 5k or the Veteran’s Day Parade) that you’d like to participate in.
-Insert items on your wish list onto your calendar. You want to do these but may not have enough details or budget to know how to pull them off yet.
– Next, connect with any major advertisers or sponsors to make sure you have an idea of any potential partnerships.
-Sit down with other key staffers from management, donor care, sales, and programming to make sure you’re not working on competing priorities.
Now you have an overview of all of 2025. Of course, other things are going to come up during the year. When you have your master calendar laid out in advance, you’ll know whether or not you have the time, energy, inventory, and staff power to pull off additional events.
Happy New Year, and here’s to a promotionally prosperous 2025!
