Salem Radio Network’s 24/7 network news operation SRN News will present a week-long special series on “The Future of NRB” exploring the immediate and long-term outlook for the National Religious Broadcasters association beginning Monday, July 25th.

SRN News conducted an extensive interview with Troy Miller (pictured below) the new President and CEO of NRB. Miller takes the helm of NRB—which was founded in 1944—at a time when Christian broadcasters face multiple challenges but also limitless potential in the exciting months ahead.

Topics in the series will include Miller’s vision of NRB’s ongoing advocacy for Christian communicators’ role in the public square…the challenge of engaging corporate boardrooms and legislative/judicial branches in protecting religious freedom…and how technology like podcasting and Digital platforms are opening doors for younger demographics among religious broadcasters.

SRN News and Dallas-based Salem Radio Network are divisions of Salem Media Group.

Baron Wiley from KBRN/Boerne, TX (Boerne Radio 103.9 FM) checks in with HisAir. Baron says something special happened on Boerne Radio this past Sunday that moved a lot of people when asking for prayer for one listener on the other side of the world in Saudi Arabia.

Baron told HisAir, On Sunday Mornings I play Gospel Music on Boerne Radio 103.9FM and someone in Saudi Arabia had been listening for the last 1/2 hour on their iPhone. Could you whisper a prayer now that this person is blessed, Thanks to all our listeners who prayed for this person in Saudi Arabia.”

Saturday, July 16, more than 400 KCBI/Dallas volunteers served at three local ministries – nearly double previous years’ turnouts – creating life-saving “Love Boxes” for moms facing unplanned pregnancies at Embrace Grace, and at Mission Arlington and Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls, sending kids back to school in style with new shoes and brand new backpacks. At Embrace Grace, Inc., volunteers assembled and prepped 1,200 Love Boxes for single and pregnant moms.

That was just the beginning.  At Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex, volunteers prepped back to school backpacks and sorted clothing.  “Many of the school supplies they put together were delivered that very afternoon,” said Mission Arlington’s Jim Burgin. “They were already in the homes of families who needed them before the volunteers who helped went to bed that night.” And volunteers serving at Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls prepped over 2,000 shoes to be placed on the feet of kids whose parents otherwise couldn’t afford them, just in time for back to school.

“This is answered prayer,” said KCBI Assistant General Manager and Outreach Director Sharon Geiger. “More volunteers than ever before responded to this year’s Summer of Service, which means we were able to do even more with our ministry partners. We are blessed to have so many listeners in DFW who are willing to put their faith into action.  Their love for Jesus shone brightly as they gave so much to so many in need.”

The GMA has extended the first round ballot for the 53rd Annual GMA Dove Awards. The current round will now close Thursday, July 21 at 11:59pm CT.

Kutless has released Twenty, an EP featuring reimagined, re-recorded versions of three hit songs from the band’s self-titled debut album Kutless. Kutless is celebrating the album’s 20th anniversary with a musical expression of gratitude for 20 years of ministry.

The Twenty EP features fresh takes on “Your Touch,” “Run” and “Tonight,” all songs that put Kutless on the map two decades ago as a rock band to watch.

“We’ve been through a lot over the last 20 years,” Kutless lead singer and songwriter Jon Micah Sumrall shares. “We’ve grown, we’ve learned, there have been hard times, there have been fun times. Every step of the way as we revisited these songs, it brought back a lot of memories.”
