American Family Radio (AFR) is purchasing WALV/Lakesite, TN (105.1 FM Chattanooga) for $610,000 from Brewer Media, pending FCC approval.
The Tupelo Mississippi-based American Family Association, founded by Dr. Don Wildmon in 1977, operates the non-commercial “American Family Radio” network with more than 180 radio stations across the country, including 11 other stations in Tennessee.
“We are excited to bring American Family Radio to the greater Chattanooga area,” Tim Wildmon, president of American Family Association, said in a statement about the pending purchase of WALV-FM. “We have a unique brand of Christian talk radio covering politics, government, popular culture and other areas of life from a biblical worldview perspective. We know there are other fine Christian stations in the area and look forward to adding our voice to the mix.”
Crawford Broadcasting says it will shut down its Portland, OR station at the end of this month. KKPZ/Portland (1330 The Truth) was acquired by Crawford in 1995 as KUPL, will be put on sale.
Daywind Records has produced an hour long radio special around DOVE AWARD winner, Joseph Habedank’s forthcoming project, Change Is Coming, which releases April 30th. This radio special is offered in a full hour format, as well as a segmented version which will allow for 4 minutes of commercials. KLOVE Fan Awards are back this year. Last year was cancelled due to to COVID-19. This year’s KLOVE Fan Awards is set for May at The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

- Outstanding Innovation by an organization, team or individual
Entries will be accepted for any activities, initiatives or projects that occurred in the 2020 calendar year – January 1st to December 31. Each category will be judged by a panel of independent judges.
Entries close 10am (AEST) on June 28, 2021. Finalists will be announced in August, and all winners of the 2020 and 2021 Excellence in Media Awards will be presented Friday September 3rd.

And 2021 grads Bailey Sherman will be joining WCVO/Columbus (104.9 The River) as promotions assistant, Shemara Fontes will be working with World Mission Broadcast in Africa and Mikayla Browne will be a graduate assistant working in Production and directing the students at Spark HD here at Olivet.
