WGTS/Wash DC is headed to the silver screen. Writer/Director Anthony Hackett chose WGTS as one of the key sets for “The Perfect Christmas,” which will be released during the 2023 holiday season.
“Filming at WGTS was an awesome experience!” said Hackett. “You just can’t replicate that kind of atmosphere. Their facilities are top-notch, and it was a blessing to film a radio station scene for a movie with actual professionals in the radio business. As a bonus, they graciously left up their Christmas decorations for a few extra weeks in order to accommodate our needs. Can’t wait for the release of ‘The Perfect Christmas’ so the world can see the fun and hilarious scenes we filmed at WGTS!”
WGTS morning show host Jerry Woods played a disc jockey in the movie, and several other staff members played extras. “I love working in radio, and I love acting,” said Woods. “I never thought I’d have a chance to combine those passions.”
“The Perfect Christmas” follows the Perfect family as they have a wild Christmas Eve and try to turn things around before Christmas morning. The movie is a Sonset Friday Entertainment Film starring Anthony Hackett (“Hope Lives”), Cameron Arnett (“Overcomer,” “I Still Believe”), Gigi Orsillo (“Running the Bases,” “Family Camp”), and Robert Amaya (“Courageous,” “War Room”). Former Chief Operating Officer for Hope Media Group/Houston Elaine Welcome has joined Dallas-based FaithSearch Partners, Inc. Welcome exited KSBJ/Houston (Hope Media Group) last Oct 2022 after serving there for 12 years. FaithSearch helps Christian organizations recruit candidates for leadership roles.

Salem Media Group announced today that South Florida radio host and activist Ninoska Pérez Castellón is returning to the airwaves as the anchor of a new Spanish-language talk lineup on WWFE/Miami (La Nueva Poderosa 670 AM). After two weeks off the air in Miami, Ninoska will launch her new show this week as the anchor of a revamped line up on the stations recently purchased by Salem Media. After 26 years with Univision Radio, Ninoska left WAQI/Miami (Radio Mambi 710 AM) after its change of ownership.
NAB is accepting entries for the 37th annual NAB Crystal Radio Awards, honoring outstanding community service efforts undertaken by radio stations throughout 2022. Winners will receive national recognition for their community service work during a special awards presentation at NAB Show, held April 15-19, 2023. The NAB Crystal Radio Awards bring national recognition to radio stations for their year-round commitment to serving communities. A panel of judges representing the broadcast industry and community service organizations will review applications and select 50 finalists and 10 winners.
Stations must submit an online entry through NAB’s new member platform, My NAB, describing their community service efforts for the 2022 calendar year. The deadline for entry submissions is January 31. Finalists will be announced in February. Entry information is available HERE.
