KAXL/Bakersfield (Life FM) held a prayer meeting Monday night in response to the tragic shooting at Independence High School that claimed the life of a 17-year-old student. Local churches, ministries, community leaders, and residents came together together for a community-wide prayer gathering focused on healing, comfort, and hope.
In the wake of this heartbreaking loss, organizers are inviting students, families, educators, first responders, faith leaders, and community members from across Bakersfield to stand together in support of those affected by the tragedy.
The evening included a time of prayer and worship, with participants joining together to pray for the victim’s family, students and staff impacted by the incident, the safety of local schools, first responders, and the overall well-being of the Bakersfield community.
Multiple churches and ministries from throughout the city participated reflecting a united response from the faith community during a time of sorrow.
Family Life/NY/PA is expanding its digital ministry outreach with the launch of Family Life Kids, a new stream created especially for children and families. The new stream will officially launch Monday, August 31.
Family Life Kids combines faith, fun and adventure through uplifting Christian music and original programming designed to help children grow in their faith and learn more about Jesus.
In addition to a variety of Christian songs for kids, Family Life Kids will feature Kids Corner, Family Life’s original radio dramas that explore big questions about faith in a way that is engaging and easy for young listeners to understand.
Dave Margolotti, Family Life’s Director of Radio said, “The Lord continues to pour out His blessings on Family Life and it is because of His generous and faithful provision that we are able to launch this new stream, one that we hope will leave a big impression on little hearts as they grow in their faith while having a lot of fun along the way.”
Family Life Kids is the latest addition to Family Life’s growing selection of online Christian music streams and family-focused programming. Other resources for children and families are available at familylife.org/kids.

KMOC/Wichita Falls, TX Team KMOC will ride in the 42nd Hotter’n Hell Hundred (HHH).
KMOC GM Keith Sanderson says, “For 15 years now we’ve recruited riders and then launch the Team KMOC Challenge, encouraging KMOC listeners to make a per-mile pledge or one time donation. Each team member solicits gifts as well. This year we have assembled our largest team ever…62 riders hoping to ride a combined 2500 miles. Our goal is $35,000. It’s been a great way to help with our summer slump in giving. It’s now our 2nd largest fund raiser each year!”
With 10,000 to 15,000 riders participating each year, The HHH has become the biggest event in Wichita Falls and the surrounding Texoma community.
