The lawsuit, filed in December 2023, alleging that Upper Columbia Media Association use of the “Shine” brand for KEEH/Spokane, WA (Shine 104.9) infringed on Olivet Nazarene University trademark, for its station WONU/Kankakee (Shine.FM) has been dropped. Both parties will continue using the “Shine” branding for their CCM stations. Olivet claimed priority rights to the “Shine” brand, citing a 2008 trademark registration and earlier use dating back to its acquisition of the “Shine 99” network.
Upper Columbia, which began using “Shine 104.9” in 2016, argued it had no knowledge of Olivet’s prior use and used a different logo. Both parties have agreed to cover their own legal fees, and Judge Rebecca Pennell dismissed the case. Olivet had initially sought $600,000 in damages and the cancellation of Upper Columbia’s trademark registrations for “Shine 104.9” and “Shine Fest.”
Seven Salem CCM stations will go off the air Jan 31st. Special broadcasts are planned on their last day.
KLTY/Dallas PD Mike Prendergast told HisAir, “This Friday will be a historic day at 94.9 KLTY, as we attempt to honor the last 40 years of service to North Texas by bringing in many of our past air talent. Bonnie & Jeremiah will welcome Frank Reed and Jon Rivers live in studio in the 7 and 8am hours. The plan is to also Facebook live some or all of this on KLTY’s Facebook page. Then throughout the day, Tony Lopez & Dave Moore will continue to reminisce with current and past on-air talent and station personnel, as well as artists and the North Texas listeners, including playing songs from the past.”

KFIS Portland PD Chris Kelly says, “Kat Taylor, Dave Arthur, and myself will be talking with Fish Portland people past and present from 9 to 5 with a live broadcast from longtime advertiser, Pietros Pizza from noon to 5 to honor our listeners and say goodbye.”
WFHM Cleveland PD Len Howser tells HisAir, “We plan to have our live dayparts – Len and Sara in the Morning and Afternoons with Friends (Josh, Kristine , Greg) to host their shows and just share and interact with the audience. We have produced a special tribute audio piece that will air beginning the Wed. that expresses our thanks to God and the audience for our amazing time together.
KKFS Sacramento PD Mike Wilson – “We are have recording from several employees and listeners and we are going to be saying thank you to them and telling stories remembering what and how The Fish has impacted our community. Ending with a goodbye event in the evening.”
EMF takes over the stations officially this Saturday Feb 1st.
KBIQ/Colorado Springs, KLTY, KKFS, and WFHM will all become K-LOVE stations. KFIS, WFSH and KFSH/Los Angeles will become Air1 stations.

WAY Media Chief Content Officer Faron Dice has announced that Kelly Corday (left) has been named Evening Host/ Network Promotions Director on the WAY-FM network. Corday is a Christ-follower — a single mom of three who loves to connect with radio listeners and tell the story of a God who restores. She’s originally from St. Louis, Missouri, where she served in Christian radio for eight years at JOY-FM (KLJY), both on the air daily and as a key part of the programming team. For ten years prior, she was on the air at mainstream HOT-AC KYKY (Y98).
