A Bronx church and two of its pastors are facing a proposed $20,000 FCC fine after allegedly operating an unlicensed FM radio station on a frequency assigned to a licensed broadcaster.
In a Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture released June 25, the Federal Communications Commission said Sweet Hour of Prayer Church, along with Pastor Neville Morgan and Pastor Lilleth Morgan, apparently operated a station on 103.5 FM in the Bronx without authorization.
According to the FCC, 103.5 FM is licensed in the New York market to WKTU-FM, an iHeartMedia-owned rhythmic adult contemporary station licensed to Lake Success, New York.
The FCC alleges the unauthorized operation interfered with the licensed use of the frequency and is seeking a $20,000 forfeiture against the church and the two pastors.

KSWP/Lufkin and sister station KAVX/Lufkin have kicked off a series of community pop-up events in support of the annual East Texas Community Shoe Drive, held in partnership with Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls. The first collection event took place last week at the Starbucks on South First Street in Lufkin, where listeners were invited to donate new shoes to help provide children with one of the most essential back-to-school items.
Additional pop-up events are planned throughout the campaign as the stations encourage the East Texas community to help meet the needs of children and families through the annual shoe drive.
“Every child deserves to start the school year with a new pair of shoes,” said Michelle Ross, president and general manager of KSWP/KAVX. “Year after year, our listeners show up in incredible ways to help children in need. These pop-up events are a simple way for our community to make a lasting impact, one pair of shoes at a time.”

After nearly 25 years of service at Fair Trade Sr VP Marketing & Promotions Dan Michaels is stepping away. Michaels joined Fair Trade in Oct 2000, when the company was still known as INO Records. Previously he was director of marketing at Benson Music Group from 1995-1999.
Michaels is also known in the industry as saxophonist in the GRAMMY®-nominated and Dove award winning alternative band The Choir.

Brian Crowe (at left) is leaving his Network Director/morning host position at Southern Gospel The LifeFM Network based in South Carolina. Brian will be serving as Regional Director for The LifeFM’s radio stations located in Tennessee. He will also continue as host of the syndicated Gospel Radio Favorites program heard every Monday and Saturday evening on The LifeFM. Effective Monday June 29th, Rodney Baucom will be the host of the morning-show and Dennis Smith will also be a part of the daily programming.
