Salem Media Group is surrendering the license for KTNO/Dallas (620 AM). KTNO has been simulcasting Christian teaching from KWRD/Dallas (100.7 The Word) since November 1, after dropping its Spanish Christian “Radio Luz” format. The 620 AM facility originated in Wichita Falls in 1939, moved to Dallas in 1996 as standards station KAAM, and later became Radio Disney affiliate KMKI. Salem purchased it in 2015 for $3 million.
With this move, Salem will now operate only two stations in the Dallas-Fort Worth market: KWRD-FM and conservative talk KSKY/Dallas “660 The Answer.” KTNO’s translator 102.5 K273BJ Dallas will now rebroadcast KSKY.

Three Cedarville broadcasting alumni now serving in roles at K-LOVE and Air1 Media Networks told their story on the Cedarville Stories podcast this week.
Jim Houser ’91, Chief Radio Officer; Mandy Young ’99, Vice President of Radio; and Steve Shore ’02, Music Platform Program Manager, shared memories, laughed about their college days, and reflected on the people and moments at Cedarville that helped shape them long before they stepped into executive leadership.

WDMJ (now WHWL/Marquette, MI) the Mining Journal station began broadcasting on April 23, 1976. The station has been in operation as a Christian radio station ever since, and this month they are celebrating their 50th anniversary. The 100lw station is owned by Gospel Opportunities Radio Network.
“Our broadcast day has a blend of conservative Christian music and programming,” said station manager Andy Larsen. “We have a wide variety of programs including many teaching / preaching programs, children’s programming, and programs that focus on news and current events.”
Andy Larsen, has held the position since 2016 when he took over for the late Curt Marker.
“WHWL (95.7) is our main station in Marquette, which covers the central U.P.,” said Larsen. “We also operate four smaller stations and eight translators, all simulcast with WHWL, that cover most of the Upper Peninsula from Ironwood to Houghton to Escanaba to Sault Ste. Marie, and even into northern Lower Michigan with a translator in Mackinaw City.”

Under the leadership of Chris Wright, Lime FM in Mount Gambier, South Australia is undergoing a transformation in 2023. The station is returning to its Christian roots and introducing a hybrid format.
Chris Wright, who has had an extensive career in radio since the 1980s, has taken on the role of station manager. He began his career as a RAAF Radio presenter while stationed in Butterworth, Malaysia. Since then, he has worked with various radio stations including 8 Top FM (Territory FM), 97.7 in Darwin, and RHEMA FM in Mount Gambier, where he spent a decade hosting Breakfast and presenting an interview-based talk show.
