A new online station based in Dallas went live today. Today was the soft launch of “The Light” founded by former KLTY/Dallas owner Marcos Rodriguez.
Rodriguez told HisAir today, “We got the band back together— 30 of us! We’re all unbelievably excited and energized about this brand new radio station. A void was created last month. With the absence of a commercial, Christian music radio station in the #1 market DFW, we have a huge opportunity and compelling reason for our team to compete with the iHeart stations”
Rodriguez adds, “Our strategy is to tear down the walls to the CCM format and expand the traditional listener base. Our on air slogan is: ‘Your favorite music of the past and present on the radio station of the future.’ Streaming and digital is the future! This type of friendly competition brings out the best in us and we are ready to deliver to advertisers a highly responsive, conservative audience”

Changes at KWPZ/Seattle (Praise 106.5). Longtime morning host Lynette Morgan is switching to afternoons. Lynette and afternoon host Sam Kelly are swapping shifts.
Lynette told HisAir, “It’s kinda crazy and cool…my idea…but Sam and I are switching shifts…Sam will do Mornings 5:30-10 and I will do Middays 10-2…I’ll get to sleep in first time in 17 years the alarm won’t go off at 4am…I’m sooo excited for this change!!!!
In June Lynette will hit 40 years at CRISTA and 44 years in broadcasting…she started at age 15!

KJRN/Keene, TX (88.3 The Journey) station manager says he has a special guest morning host next. Former KLTY/Dallas morning host Frank Reed will be filling in for Rich & Tanya 6am to 10am 3/10 – 3/14.
Rich is on a missions trip to Malawi with The CUPS Mission.
Family Radio Network/Appleton, WI went on the air in Milwaukee on 92.9 FM following the closing on its purchase of FM translator W225CP FM from Tomsun Media.
In November, Family Radio Network acquired WJTI/Milwaukee (1460) and its translator signal at 102.5 FM. Calls were changed to WEMK.
Family Radio Network owns WEMI-FM (91.9), its Appleton flagship; WGNV-FM (88.5) in Wausau; WSTM-FM (91.3) in Kiel; WEMY-FM (91.5) in Green Bay; WGNW-FM (99.9) in Eau Claire; and six translator stations, all in Wisconsin.

Hope Media Group is purchasing WTML/Tullahoma TN (91.5) from Nashville Public Radio for $35,000.
HisAir INDUSTRY NEWS FLASHBACK – NINE YEARS AGO – MAR 7, 2016
WCLQ/Wausau (89Q) Program Director and morning host Matt Deane is exiting and headed for the PD position at KNWS/Waterloo (Life 101.9). He will start at KNWS at the end of the month.
Matt had this to say, “To say leaving 89Q and our Highland Community Church family will be difficult is an understatement. At the same time, though, Northwestern Media is doing some amazing things in Eastern Iowa and we truly believe that God has led us to this new opportunity and we’re excited for what lies ahead.”
