WNWC/Madison (Life 102.5) has partnered with the American Family Children’s Hospital for 5 years to bring hope to kids during their stay at the hospital. In previous years, members of the Madison community and surrounding areas donated Legos and Pay-Doh. In 2023, the Lego Drive is back for its sixth year. Parents shared how the generosity of the schools, businesses, churches, village halls, and individuals made an impact on their kids’ lives and kept them engaged during their time at the hospital. Each child is able to take the Legos home after their hospital stay.

Summer Shepherd, afternoon show host at Life 102.5, said, “My love for the children’s hospital ignited as I watched them fight for my daughter when she was only 15 months old.” When Life 102.5 partnered with the hospital six years ago, Shepherd never imagined that the community would “grab hold of the call” as strongly as they did.

This year, the Lego Drive is in person and online, making it easy for friends and family outside of the Madison area to participate. Life 102.5 and the American Family Children’s Hospital hope to make a lasting impact during their sixth year of the Lego Drive!

WCVK/Bowling Green, KY (Christian Family Radio) collected more than 7,060 pairs of socks as part of CFR’s 12th Annual Socks for Seniors Drive. Sixty local businesses and organizations opened their doors to be drop off locations. With the help of listeners and volunteers, boxes of warm fuzzy socks were donated and distributed to more than 45 Senior Care Facilities in Southern Kentucky. Why socks you might ask?

“We’ve had seniors with tears in their eyes… It brings the nostalgia of family. Everyone remembers getting socks from grandma and maybe at the time it doesn’t feel like something special, but these elderly people have those memories deep in their spirit,” says Heather Bitterling, CFR Volunteer.

It was a record-breaking year for the drive, allowing more Seniors than ever to feel the joy and love from their community during the Christmas season. CFR and its volunteers are already thinking of ways to further the impact of this community outreach for next year.

Happy National Radio DJ Day 2023 to all the brothers and sisters serving the Lord in Christian Radio worldwide…

“The first disc jockey was an experiment on the airwaves. In 1909, sixteen-year-old Ray Newby was a student under the supervision of Charles “Doc” Herrold at Herrold College of Engineering and Wireless. He played the first records over the airwaves before the word disc jockey even existed. What started as an experiment from the Garden City Bank Building where the college was located in San Fernando, California, was soon being replicated by radio broadcasters across the country. Initially, Newby primarily broadcast his news, music, and entertainment live.”
