Kim Pennington (formerly with StowTown Records and now freelance writing related the time she met Lisa Marie Presley. Lisa Marie passed away Thursday at the age of 54.

“I briefly met Lisa Marie Presley four years ago backstage at a Graceland listening party when Sony Music Entertainment Legacy Recordings released this song to radio from a project by the same name. Despite fatigue, personal stress, and everyone clamoring for a piece of her, Lisa Marie made her way through the photo ops and spoke openly and eloquently of her father’s love of gospel music. She was passionate about this project and the “re-imagined” duet which combined Elvis’ original recording of “Where No One Stands Alone” with newly-added vocals of her own. I never imagined working in the music industry in the first place, let alone being entrusted with getting this unique ballad by the King of Rock ‘n Roll and his talented daughter played on the radio. I fell in love then with the song and its accompanying video, which uses home movies to clearly show the very human side of these celebrities in their adoration of each other and their struggles to make sense of life – worth every second of its 3.5 minutes. It brought a tear to my eye when I first saw it four years ago and again last night after hearing about Lisa Marie’s death. I can only hope father and daughter are now experiencing unhindered God’s love and peace which they (along with all of us) longed to experience during their short lives on earth.”
